IMPORTANT LAPTOP INFORMATION
JULY 2012 TEXAS BAR EXAM
PLEASE READ THIS NOTICE COMPLETELY
This notice is to confirm that you have applied to take the Texas Bar
Examination via laptop. The Board is planning for laptop testing to be available
at all July 2012 sites. Refer to the Board’s website for exact locations.
-
The ExamSoft website will officially open June 8, 2012. The
time frame in which you will have to download the software from ExamSoft will
be June 8, 2012 to June 19, 2012. Registration must be completed by
June 19, 2012. Failure to complete the registration process by the
deadline will result in your being re-assigned to the handwrite section for
the exam, including the possibility of assignment at your 2nd site choice (or
other) if the handwriting section at your 1st site choice is already filled to
capacity. You will also forfeit any fees already paid to the Board or ExamSoft.
-
As outlined in the Laptop Application you executed, an
additional software license fee is required and will be paid to the software
vendor, ExamSoft. The ExamSoft fee for the July 2012 examination is $107 and
must be paid when you download the software from ExamSoft. Even if you have
previously installed or have used ExamSoft for law school exams or other bar
exams, you must complete the process anew, and pay ExamSoft the $107 fee and
follow the installation and registration instructions to use the software on
the July 2012 exam. This fee is determined by ExamSoft and is not paid to the
Board of Law Examiners. Payment is made at ExamSoft’s website by all major
credit cards or Paypal. If you do not complete this requirement you will be
re-assigned to a handwrite site, and it could be in a different city than your
first or second exam site choice.
-
You must ensure that emails from the Board of Law Examiners
and ExamSoft are never blocked. You will be receiving correspondence from
email address
information@ble.state.tx.us and examsoft.com
regarding the laptop process. The email will contain your ID and password
necessary for the registration process. If you have not received
correspondence from the Board by June 8, 2012, contact your Licensure Analyst
at the Board of Law Examiners’ office.
-
Please read all laptop notifications mailed and emailed to
you. You must adhere to all SPECIFIC DEADLINES. If you do not meet the
deadlines imposed in the laptop notifications, you may be re-assigned to
another site, causing you to handwrite the exam and forfeit your laptop fees.
